You know how it is in winter when it is so cold outside you are shivering and you dare not walk on pavement or concrete walkways without rubber boots or some kind of grippers on your shoes for fear of falling on the ice. It gets tiring after awhile unless you live in Alaska or maybe Montana, where you are used to and equipped for it. Still after several months of the freeze you begin to pray for and look forward to spring and the thaw. At least you know it will end and then there will be warmth and flowers and birds singing and life will be so happy and good – just like on the television commercials. However, if you are Jewish and live in Israel, it appears the freeze never ends!
Today there are more Piece Talks going on in Sharm e-Shiekh, Egypt, between Israel and the PA with additional pressure being added by the United States, Jordan, Egypt and whomever else has decided to stick their ugly little stubbled head into the match. Its about a Two State Solution, or so they say. Really, according to the PA group, its about the annihilation of Israel, ever so slowly.
Abbas and his PA cronies refuse to make any concessions but demands more and more from Israel, including the continuation of the building freeze that has been holding Jews, who live in the Jewish homeland, hostage to the stupidity of the diplomatic community who need to go home and read the real history book more commonly known as the Bible.
There is no question that Netanyahu has a gun to his head, not only by the demands of the international community but by those within his own government. Member of Knesset, Issac Herzog (son of Israel’s sixth Prime Minister, Itzak Herzog) now holds the sanctified office of Minister of Welfare and Social Services, and was quoted as saying he thought “the talks were an important step and that brave steps need to be taken…even if it means a continuation of the settlement freeze….”
Interesting isn’t it…the brave steps always means the settlements can’t grow. Oh get over yourself MK Herzog. I’m sure you and your family live in comfort in a lovely apartment or home with a room for everyone while those nasty settlers have to be squashed together in small, confined places like the little bugs they are! Maybe they need to pack up their families and move in with you and yours, at least for the holidays. Surely, you can be that benevolent. Then everyone could be so happy – you would have guests for Succot and those nasty settlers would be able to stretch out a little, breathe fresh air and enjoy some of your wife’s fine cooking. That would be lovely. Too bad it’s a pipe dream.
Herzog is wrong. The brave thing to do would be to tell Abbas, the PA, the Egyptians and Jordanians and the U.S. to take a hike. There is a Palestinian State and its name is Jordan!
