The Pope Fiddles While Christians Die:

I’m sure we are all so relieved to hear the Catholic Synod has just finished their two week symposium held in New York City, October 10 – 24, and now we can all know the truth. Israel is the bad guy! Imagine that.

I wonder, if we call a lily a rose, which is it? A rose by another name or a lily with another name? Does it all smell the same? Is it white or is it red? Can we say a lie is a lie if it is told out of fear? Or is it okay to lie when you are afraid for your life and that of your congregations? It appears that is what happened at the gathering of 172 bishops and many others as they joined together to discuss the future of Christians in the Middle East.

Now, the Middle East is larger than Israel. It includes the 22 Arab states as well as tiny, teeny little Israel. Ironically, the Christian population of Israel and Jordan has remained steady over the past few years, yet in the wake of the two Iraqi wars, the Iraqi Christian population has declined from 1.4 million in 1987 to less than 400,000 today.

Don’t you find that a little curious? Because of the wars, the Christian population has declined in the region. Do you think they were killed by the falling bombs of the Americans? Do you think the American soldiers sought them out and annihilated them? Was it the Americans? Or is it the fact that so many have packed up and moved to America, Australia and other welcoming countries where they can worship freely. Not for fear of their lives as a result of the wars, but for fear of their lives from those bad boy terrorists who are kicking in church doors and killing all who are there.

In spite of the fact that Emmanuel III Delly, the Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans, told the conference they – the Christians and Muslims of Iraq – all live together in a peaceful utopia of freedom and mutual respect, jihadists stormed a church on October 31 and murdered over thirty people! Guess they didn’t get notice that they were living in peace with Christians. Or maybe they were celebrating Halloween and doing scary things!

This isn’t the first time Christians have been murdered in Muslim countries, nor will it be the last. The list is long and continuing to grow and will until the CHURCH wakes up and does something about it. As long as we turn our heads in fear of reprisals by the Islamist, then the murdering will continue and continue until finally, one bright day it comes to our door. It may not be politically correct to call murder murder, but that is what it is going on and it isn’t in Israel – at least not in Jewish Israel – but it is happening frequently in Muslim countries. Yet the Catholic Synod blames Israel for the lack of peace in the Middle East. Maybe they’ve been smelling too many lilies!
